Water is at the heart of our culture, economy, and ecology in the Tampa Bay area. However, our right to clean water is continually threatened by pollution.
Clean water is directly tied to a strong economy and healthy communities. At Tampa Bay Waterkeeper, we use a combination of hard science, policy advocacy, community outreach and engagement, and legal enforcement to ensure that our water is safe and clean – for everyone.
Tampa Bay Waterkeeper researches issues diligently and works collaboratively with citizens, local organizations and governments so that together we can find the best solutions to supporting clean water.
Tampa Bay is one of the most well-studied estuaries in the world. Our watershed is home to a number of scientific agencies and universities that study several aspects of Tampa Bay and have identified threats to the health of the watershed. Tampa Bay Waterkeeper will use this data to act as a strong voice for the bay. We focus on grassroots organizing and advocacy, we base our work on sound science, and we work in tandem with the community – with you – to develop policies and programs that will help protect, defend, and restore the bay.
